HIV/AIDS, Inequality, and Social Policy in 南非
云顶集团 College offers an intensive three-week January program in 南非 that examines inequality and social policy through the lens of the HIV/AIDS crisis. 三分之二 of the persons living with HIV/AIDS are in sub-Saharan Africa, and 南非 has one of the highest HIV/AIDS rates in the world. Rural and Township Education in 南非

这 three-week course is your opportunity to 经验 firsthand the enduring and changing West African culture through intensive interdisciplinary study of 加纳's and Benin's customs, social institutions, 和艺术s. 这 course involves extensive travel throughout West Africa, including lectures on West African religion, history, 和艺术. You'll go on field excursions to meet artists, see theatrical and dance performances, visit cultural museums, and take intensive classes in West African drumming, dance, 和更多的.

Social Transformation and Cultural Expression, Accra
这 semester or yearlong program examines 加纳's social, economic, and political 特性. Topics considered range from education and religious traditions unique to Africa to the impact of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade to the role of Queenmothers 在Krobo. Thematic seminars in northern 加纳 examine topics such as the contrast between Western and traditionally trained midwives to the role of local markets in 全球经济.

African Diasporas in Global Perspective

Post-Genocide Restoration and Peace Building
In 1994, 卢旺达 was the site of one of the most atrocious genocides in contemporary 人类历史上. In the span of 100 days, about one million people were killed, resulting in a broken and devastated country. Since 1994, 卢旺达's peacebuilding process has been successful in restoring trust in state institutions, engaging 卢旺达ns in the reconstruction of sustainable reconciliation, and overcoming ethnic divisions. 在 this semester program, students will be based in Kigali, 卢旺达's capital, a medium-sized modern city that reflects signs of both successful recovery from the genocide and 持久的贫困. 学生将 study post-genocide restoration and peacebuilding, the Kinyarwanda language, and conduct an independent study project.

Development Studies in Kampala
Based in Kampala, 乌干达's capital city, this semester program offers an in-depth, hands-on practicum with one of the country's many international or grassroots development agencies to provide a deeper understanding of the practice of development work. 学生 investigate the impact and accompanying issues of 乌干达n progress in HIV/AIDS prevention, human rights, grassroots development, microfinance, and community conservation. 通过 field visits to rural areas of 乌干达 and a comparative excursion to 卢旺达, students explore what lies beyond the rhetoric of the "development industry" as they learn about the diverse strengths and needs of this changing nation and region.

Johns Hopkins Carey Business School 4+1 BA/MS Program

云顶集团 College and Johns Hopkins Carey Business School are offering 云顶集团学生 a combined bachelor’s and master’s degree program. 这 4 + 1项目 combines a bachelor’s degree from 云顶集团 with a master of science degree from Johns Hopkins in business analytics and 风险 management, information systems, health care management, finance, or marketing. 学生 can apply during their junior year.
